Talk to Myself Tuesday

My family says that I talk to myself all the time, but I prefer to call it “Thinking Outloud!” But, regardless of what title you give it, here’s what’s been going on in my head lately…

Caramel apples are so yummy; I especially like the kind that you can drizzle over a sliced apple & eat with a fork… although my boys still manage to get incredibly sticky. Of course, the nuts, marshmallows and sprinkles certainly add to the probability of getting totally sticky.

How is it possible that I can love FALL so much but be completely annoyed with Halloween?

Our church is in the final week of our LunchMoney Campaign. Our entire church has been giving up lunch (or the money that it cost us to eat it) and giving it towards  HopeWorks.  Wanna join us?  It’s about giving to our city, but not just meeting physical & social needs, but working to share the Love of JESUS!

Good News is that YOU have an opportunity to give to the ministry in Detroit, too. Click here.

Never resist a generous impulse. (cuz that impulse is NOT human nature… it’s God dropping that thought in your head!)

The old “make me go insane cuz they never work correctly-sewing machines” have been retired because Santa came early (aka: My generous friend)

Here’s the new “heavy duty” machine!  YIPPEE! Thanks, Ms. Santa!

I wonder how many people in my life really know what they believe and WHY they believe it.

My boys had frozen pizza for probably the 2nd time in their lives.(The girls have had it a few more times) They were delighted… and I was completely surprised at how yummy it was.

Another friend who works at a school rescued this microscope from the trash pile. (Why are schools so wasteful & then always complaining about what they “don’t have!”)  We didn’t think it actually worked… until we read the directions.  Ha! Max LOVES it & has taken a closer look at basically everything he can possibly fit under it. So awesome. (Thanks, Friend-who-digs-through-garbage-piles-at-his-job-but-won’t-see-this-cuz-he-doesn’t-read-this-blog. 🙂

The Saturday morning RC United group that I’m attending JUST ROCKS: Talking about our lives, what Jesus is teaching us, asking questions & praying together. Being Friends. 🙂

The exciting new things that are coming around the bend make my heart jump for joy & eyes pool with tears!

My kids informed me that they’re losing weight and they’ve concluded  it’s because I don’t buy junk food anymore!  🙂

(“You only buy apples, Mom!”  They must’ve forgotten the giant tubs of caramel that go with those apple 50% of the time!)

Overrun with Imperfection

I haven’t worn make-up for 3 of the past 5 days.

Our dining room table looks like a library threw up on it.

My electronics (aka computer, phone, internet, etc) forced me to rename them.

I’ve stopped for groceries 3 times but have failed to buy 1/2 of what’s

actually written on my list, so our meal choices are pretty dumb.

My oldest daughter leaves for school next week…

(no words about that right now, just feelings)

The cute wedding gift-project that I want to make for our friends

is taunting me because I haven’t started it yet, and because my

ideas always exceed my talent & time.

My neck hurts from leaning over school books & planning lessons.

Our lovely house cries out for a good clean, but remains unheard.

The beautiful summer weather is gone & I’m kinda mad at myself for

not being excited about fall. It’s my favorite season, but I’ve apparentently

forgotten that tid bit of info about myself.

We start home school in a few days  (I know.. it’s later than you) and

until I get it all planned out… things are kinda rough.

If you’re feeling poopy about yourself;

Incase you’ve been reading all those blog sites where everyone is

creative, gorgeous and totally organized in every area…

Well, ha!

Let’s be REAL.

Real stuff happens.

And sometimes we just hafta say it… and laugh. It just helps!

(And, saying “poopy” a few times also proves quite helpful, too!

A lesson I learned in Jr. High!)

Here’s the little phrase that God’s been reminding me this week:

Grace in Action

My imperfections are huge.

My Jesus is “huge-er” and totally Perfect in every way!

Not the Norm “Thankful For” List!

Besides my JESUS, my MAN, My CHILDREN,  FAMILY,

Church Family, Friends, House, etc,
Here’s a list of some of the “little” things that add up to
BIG things in my life… and I’m thankful for them, too!!!
In Random order...
– Giant WINDOWS in my house
– Beautiful views of cool buildings out my window
– Historical old houses all around us
– A giant pot to make a huge batch of chili for a crowd
– That my family IS a crowd
– Computers & wireless Internet
– Digital cameras
– Being able to print out postage
   at home from the USPS
– Delivery trucks that bring
   goodies from Amazon
– Huge, blue Ikea bags that serve us
   in countless ways
– Skype… even thought I forget to use it most of the time
– Text Messaging- especially now that most of my closest friends
  FINALLY have it!
– The color RED… and of course PURPLE!
– Storm windows that allow me to continue to love my old
historic windows
– Fabric Softener balls, cuz I could
never add the softener at the
right time without it!
– Those bumpy dryer balls
that make the clothes dry sooner
– A basement that’s not a complete
– An actual freezer in the corner of my basement that helps me
use our money & food wisely
– Toilet Paper! (Hey, my Dad use to tell stories of corn cobs &
old magazine pages.)  ick
– Christmas Music
– A loud laugh (well, most of the time I’m thankful for that,
except for the times that something is totally funny & I’m
NOT suppose to be laughing. opps!)

The funny little “mouth piece” I wear to bed that keeps
my TMJ headaches in check
–  A working fireplace… and friends that delivered firewood!
(I’m so excited to use it!)
– Fuzzy slippers (that happen to match Mariah’s Snuggie.
She better now try to “adopt” them while she’s home!)
– YOU!  For reading my blog, sharing in my life and being
a sounding board for the thoughts that room around in my
brain!  *
