One Sunday after morning service two of my younger kids ran up to me, jumped all
over the place, bounced around and shouted, “We had candy in kids church today
so now we’re super hyper cuz sugar makes ya hyper!”
“NO!” I said firmly. “Sugar does not have make YOU hyper. Now stop that. We
don’t act that way here.”
“Oh.” They replied and immediately stopped jumping, looked closely at me to
make sure I serious and then calmly walked away.
Be careful. Our kids live up to our expectations… good and bad.
(And sometimes…. it’s easier for us to blame outside influences for the misbehavior
of our children rather than simply learn to give consistent, loving but firm discipline.)
